Heartbeat by Sharon Creech is about Annie a girl who loves to run. She runs barefoot everyday with her friend Max. She calls him moody Max. He runs to escape from his real life, but Annie runs for fun. Running is like her thinking time it is just were she relaxes the most. Her mother is pregnant and her grandfather is about to kick the bucket. When the little baby is born everything in the story settles down. Annie's life returns to normal, but with a new character in it.

The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl, 65 pages long tells a story of the Gregg family who loves to hunt, but their eight-year-old neighbor can not stand it. After many pleas for them to stop are declined, she had no other choice. She decided to put her magic finger on them.  Now the Gregg's are a family of birds, they are going to find out how it feels to be on the other side of the gun.

In the book Matilda by Roald Dahl, 231 Matilda has to face the real word when she is 5. Matilda is a book that shows if you set your mind to something, you can accomplish it. Matilda has taught me that I can do any thing I want if I believe in my self.

Charlotte's Web by E. B. White, is about a pig named Wilbur. Wilbur was going to be killed because of his size, but a little girl saved him and took care of him like a baby. When a spider named Charlotte made webs that said words, Wilbur was not eaten because everyone thought Wilbur was special. In the novel something great happens then a terrible thing happens because of it. At the end there are 3 new characters that have been introduced Joy, Aranea, Nellie.

Shiloh Season

In the novel Shiloh Season by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, 121 pages, a boy, Marty, has two little sisters and one of them hides and the family thinks some one hurt her but they find out later she was hiding. Judd, an evil man hunts while he's been drinking alcohol and almost gets people hurt. When Judd was D.U.I. he gets in a very bad car crash and Marty's dad and Marty help Judd and then a bunch of things happen. One of the things is that people gave Judd free food. When people gave Judd food he never answered the door because he never learned to be friendly when he was younger.

Bridge To Terabithia

In the novel Bridge To Terabithia by Katherine Paterson, 130 pages, a boy named Jess, wants to be the fastest kid in the fifth grade. When Jess is trying to beet all the kids in races Leslie, a new girl, beets him. Jess and Leslie become friends and create a magical land called Terabithia! When Jess and Leslie are playing in Terabithia something horrible happens. Jess realizes that Leslie gave him a lot of courage.

Saving Shiloh (underlined), by Phillis Reynolds Naylor, is 138 pages long. Judd Travers was a cruel man but he changed when he saved Shiloh from drowning in the river. There was a big snow storm and the second main character, Marty, couldn't get out of his house to play with his friend David. When Dara Lynn didn't listen to Marty, she fell and almost drown.


This book is recommended to children who have read the first and second novels.
